# Course Articulation and Final Review

The **Course Articulation and Final Review** step provides a comprehensive summary of all evaluated courses and their articulations. This interface allows Credit Officers to perform a final review before completing the transfer credit process.

Upon accessing the application review screen, users are presented with a streamlined layout designed to support efficient validation and final edits.

## Course Layout and Sorting

* On the **left side**, courses are grouped by match status:
  * **Auto-Matched** courses with valid articulations are shown at the top.
  * **Courses requiring manual action** appear at the bottom for easy identification.
* The **right panel** provides a summary view showing:
  * The number of courses automatically matched.
  * The number of courses pending student or departmental action

> **Tip:** Use this view to ensure all courses have been reviewed and properly articulated before moving to final submission.

Selecting a course from the left navigation panel displays its full details on the right-hand side of the interface. This detailed view includes:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Course Information" %}
Collapsible sections showing:

* Toggle key to send the application to the student for entering any missing information

  <div data-gb-custom-block data-tag="hint" data-style="info" class="hint hint-info"><p>This toggle is only available for unmatched courses that are pending review.</p></div>
* Course Grade
* Credit hours
* Upload option for adding additional documentation
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Change Log" %}
Collapsible section displaying a list of records, each showing:

* Course Status
* Course Name
* Last Updated Date

{% hint style="info" %}
This section is only available for unmatched courses that are pending review.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Articulation Section" %}
Displays options to define course articulation:

* **Direct:**\
  Make a direct articulation:
  * Option to mark as `Transferable`&#x20;
  * Choose between:
    * `Single` mapping → one or more internal courses
    * `Multiple` mapping → with articulation type: `Equivalency` or `Substitution`
* **Department:**\
  Displays a drop-down to select the department used for mapping before articulating.

{% hint style="info" %}
This section is only available for unmatched courses that are pending review.
{% endhint %}
{% endtab %}

### AI-Generated Descriptions for Courses

When a university match exists, AI-generated course descriptions are automatically displayed to provide detailed and relevant context for the matched course. This feature supports reviewers during credit evaluation by delivering clearer information, streamlining decision-making, and reducing the need for manual lookup or interpretation.

## Add Course Articulations

When auto-matching is not available, Credit Officers can manually add course articulations. The interface is designed to streamline the review process, allowing for quick edits and accurate entry of course details.

### Multiple Equivalences (OR)

The **Multiple Equivalencies (OR)** feature enables support for **complex equivalency rules**, where a single external course can map to multiple internal equivalency options.

Previously, the system supported only a single equivalency rule per course (implicit **AND logic**). This limitation required institutions to simplify their equivalency structures, often leading to manual workarounds and inconsistencies.

With this enhancement, the system now supports **OR-based equivalency rules**, allowing evaluators to choose the most appropriate equivalency during the evaluation process.

<summary>Complex Rule Support and Visibility</summary>

* Displays all predefined transfer rules using the **# Rules** column and interactive views
* Enables evaluat

</details>

<details>

<summary>Enhanced Matching and Evaluation</summary>

* Evaluates courses against all available rules instead of a single rule
* Introduces **Auto-Select** when multiple rules are fully satisfied, requiring evaluator selection
* Maintains **Automatch** (single rule) and **Manual** (no rule) evaluation paths
* Allows evaluators to switch from **Auto-Select → Manual** when:
  * No rules are applicable
  * Available rules are not appropriate

</details>

<details>

<summary>Dynamic Evaluation Control</summary>

* Provides real-time rule availability and validation indicators
* Allows **Manual fallback** when no suitable rules are available
* Supports **Revert functionality** to restore courses to pending and recalculate rules
* Ensures consistent behavior across Course Evaluation, Department Review, and Final Evaluation

</details>

<details>

<summary>Limitations</summary>

* Complex rules **cannot be created within TCE**
* Existing “**Save as Equivalency**” functionality remains unchanged (simple rules only)
* No outbound synchronization of rules back to SIS systems

</details>

<details>

<summary>Glossary</summary>

* **Simple Rule:** A rule using AND logic (1-to-1 or N-to-N)
* **Complex Rule:** A rule using OR logic, representing multiple options
* **Predefined Transfer Rules:** Institution-defined equivalency rules
* **Auto-Select:** Multiple valid rules require evaluator selection
* **Automatch:** Single valid rule applied automatically
* **Manual:** No rule fully satisfied
* **Rule State:** Indicates whether a rule is available or unavailable

## Final Review

Once all courses have been articulated and approved, Credit Officers perform a final review to complete the transfer credit application. This is the last chance to revert or adjust any course decisions before submission.&#x20;

The following product tour demonstrates how to validate course entries, make final updates, and submit the application for approval or confirmation.

## Summary for Completed Applications

To enhance visibility into finalized applications, ProcessMaker introduces a **College** summary view for requests marked as **Completed**. This view offers a concise, read-only interface for reviewing academic and processing outcomes, without exposing internal workflow details.

To acces it, click any Completed application from the [Applications Dashboard](/higher-ed/transfer-credit-applicant-college/applications-dashboard.md) to open the **Application Summary** view.
