User Synchronization

As part of the transition to the ProcessMaker Platform, it's essential to ensure the seamless transfer of user accounts from ProcessMaker 3 to Platform. This synchronization of user accounts can be achieved through one of the following methods:

These synchronization methods ensure a smooth transition of user accounts, maintaining user data integrity and accessibility.

User Synchronization through ProcessMaker

The first user sync is carried out by our CloudOPs team as part of the transition procedures. Our system administrators will run a command to import all ProcessMaker 3 user accounts into ProcessMaker Platform. Afterwards, user sync in carried out based on the user authentication protocol.

User Synchronization through LDAP/AD

User synchronization with LDAP/AD can be performed through a manual or scheduled cron job. Here is how this procedure works:

  1. ProcessMaker Platform compares the user list in ProcessMaker 3 with the user list in the LDAP/AD.

  2. All users currently existing in ProcessMaker 3 are created in Platform.

  3. LDAP/AD users who do not exist in ProcessMaker 3 won't be created in Platform unless the Enable automatic registration option is activated. In that case, users will be automatically imported from LDAP/AD the first time they log on to ProcessMaker 3.

To ensure smooth user synchronization, it is vital to effectively schedule the sync and configure the necessary settings in ProcessMaker Platform. Click here for more details.

Additionally, if you intend to keep using PM Classic, user synchronization must also be scheduled in ProcessMaker 3. Click here for more details.

User Synchronization through SAML

User synchronization with SAML occurs automatically when a users logs on to ProcessMaker Platform for the first time. Here is how this procedure works:

  1. When a user logs on to ProcessMaker Platform for the first time, a check is performed to see if the user already exits.

  2. If the user account exists, the login process will continue without any additional actions required.

  3. If the user account doesn't exist, a new user account will be automatically created in ProcessMaker Platform.
